Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 22, 2026 | Effective: January 1, 2019
This Privacy Policy describes how AIOU Studio (“we”, “our”, or “us”), operating at aioustudio.net, collects, uses, stores, and protects information from visitors and users of our website. By accessing or using AIOU Studio, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
AIOU Studio is an independent educational resource portal for Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) students in Pakistan. We are not officially affiliated with AIOU or the Government of Pakistan. Our website is free to access and does not require account registration.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide Voluntarily
We collect personal information only when you choose to provide it. This occurs when you:
- Submit the contact form: We collect your name, email address, and the content of your message. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry and is not stored in our databases longer than necessary.
- Subscribe to updates (if available): We may collect your email address to send AIOU-related notifications. You may unsubscribe at any time.
1.2 Automatically Collected Information
When you visit aioustudio.net, certain information is automatically collected by our analytics and advertising service providers:
- Device and browser information: Operating system, browser type and version, device type (mobile, tablet, desktop), screen resolution.
- Usage data: Pages visited, time spent on each page, referral source (how you arrived at our website), general geographic location (country and city level — not precise location), and exit pages.
- IP address: Collected by our hosting provider and analytics tools for security and geographic analytics purposes. IP addresses are anonymised wherever possible and are not linked to your personal identity.
- Cookies and tracking technologies: See our separate Cookie Policy for full details.
We do not collect your name, AIOU roll number, CNIC, or any personally identifiable information unless you explicitly submit it through our contact form.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To respond to contact form submissions: Your name and email are used only to reply to your specific enquiry. We do not add you to marketing lists without explicit consent.
- To analyse and improve our website: Anonymised analytics data (page views, session duration, device type) helps us understand which content is most useful to AIOU students and where we can improve.
- To serve relevant advertisements: Google AdSense may use cookies and browsing behaviour to display advertisements relevant to your interests. We do not have access to the personal data used by Google for this purpose. See Google's advertising policy for details.
- To maintain website security: IP addresses and access logs may be reviewed to identify and block abusive traffic, spam, or security threats.
- To comply with legal obligations: We may process and disclose information if required by applicable law, court order, or legitimate government authority.
3. Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymised statistics about website traffic. Google Analytics sets cookies (including _ga and _ga_*) in your browser that expire after two years. The data collected is anonymised — no personally identifiable information is transmitted to Google.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Alternatively, you can disable cookies in your browser settings.
Google's use of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
4. Google AdSense and Advertising
AIOU Studio participates in the Google AdSense programme. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve advertisements to visitors of our website based on prior visits to this website and other websites on the internet.
Users may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out via the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.
We do not control the content of Google advertisements or the data Google collects for advertising personalisation. Google's advertising is governed by Google's Advertising Policy.
5. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience on aioustudio.net. Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser. Our full cookie disclosure, including a table of all cookies used, their purposes, durations, and opt-out options, is available in our Cookie Policy.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect the functionality of some features on our website but will not prevent you from accessing our content.
6. Third-Party Links and Embedded Content
AIOU Studio contains links to external websites, including:
- AIOU official portal (aiou.edu.pk) — for admission forms, results, and official announcements
- Google Drive — for hosting downloadable PDF files (solved assignments, books)
- HEC website (hec.gov.pk) — for degree equivalency and recognition information
- Facebook — via our social media link
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these external websites. Each external site has its own privacy policy and we encourage you to review them before submitting any personal information to those sites. Clicking on a PDF link that opens in Google Drive means your interaction with that file is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
7. Data Storage and Retention
We do not operate our own database for storing user data. Contact form submissions are processed through our contact service provider and are retained only as long as necessary to respond to the inquiry — typically no longer than 90 days.
Analytics data collected by Google Analytics is retained for 26 months by default, after which it is automatically deleted from Google's systems. We do not have permanent access to individual-level user data from Google Analytics — only aggregated, anonymised reports.
8. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and administrative measures to protect the personal information you provide:
- HTTPS encryption: All data transmitted between your browser and aioustudio.net is encrypted via TLS (HTTPS). You can verify this by the padlock icon in your browser address bar.
- Security headers: Our website implements HTTP security headers including Strict-Transport- Security (HSTS), X-Content-Type-Options, X-Frame-Options, and Referrer-Policy to protect against common web vulnerabilities.
- No password storage: AIOU Studio does not require registration or passwords. We do not store any account credentials.
While we implement these safeguards, no internet transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of information transmitted to us via email or contact forms.
9. Children's Privacy
AIOU Studio serves AIOU students of all ages, including Matric-level students who may be under 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age without parental consent. If you are under 13, please do not submit any personal information through our contact form without parental permission.
If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately. Parents who believe their child has submitted personal information to us should contact us at [email protected].
10. Your Rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Right to access: Request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Right to erasure: Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal obligations.
- Right to opt out of advertising: Use Google's opt-out tools described in Section 4.
- Right to withdraw consent: If you have provided consent for any data processing, you may withdraw it at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
11. International Users
AIOU Studio is primarily designed for users in Pakistan. If you are accessing our website from outside Pakistan (including from the EU, UK, USA, Canada, or Australia), please be aware that your information may be processed in Pakistan and in the United States (via Google's servers). By using our website, you consent to this transfer.
We endeavour to comply with applicable data protection regulations including Pakistan's Personal Data Protection Bill and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other operational factors. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Continued use of aioustudio.net after changes to this policy constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
