How to Complete AIOU Rollover Admission — 5 Steps
The process is the same for Spring and Autumn semesters. Use your existing student roll number throughout.
Go to admissions.aiou.edu.pk and log in with your existing student roll number and password. Returning students do not create a new account — use your existing credentials from your original admission.
On the portal dashboard, look for the 'Old Student Admission', 'Continue Studies', or 'Rollover' option. The exact label changes by semester — if unclear, select the option that says 'Already Registered' or similar.
Your program details will be pre-filled. Select the courses you want to enrol in for the new semester. If you are repeating a failed course, select it explicitly. Verify credit hours and ensure the course sequence is correct for your program.
A fee challan will be generated. Pay at any HBL, MCB, UBL, or other designated bank branch within the challan validity period (usually 7–14 days). Keep the bank receipt — upload a scanned copy through the portal to confirm payment.
Upload the scanned bank deposit slip to the portal. Submit your rollover admission form. You will receive an SMS confirmation with your new semester course codes. Your study materials will be dispatched to your registered address.

Always select 'Old Student' or 'Rollover' on the portal. Applying as a new student creates a duplicate ID and causes confusion in your academic record.

Generating a challan and paying the bank is not enough — you must also upload the payment proof to the portal. Without upload, your enrollment is not confirmed even if the bank has received the money.

Unlike fresh admission (for new students), rollover admission is for students who have already started their AIOU program and are continuing to the next stage. It is done each semester before the admission deadline — typically January–March for Spring and July–September for Autumn.

Your previous failing result remains on your transcript but the new grade will replace it for CGPA calculation purposes.
What happens if I miss the AIOU rollover admission deadline?
If you miss the rollover admission deadline, you will not be enrolled for that semester and will have to wait for the next admission window (6 months later). Your previous student ID remains valid — you will not need to re-register from scratch. However, missing semesters delays your degree completion. AIOU does not offer late admissions after the deadline.
How many years can I take to complete my AIOU program?
AIOU allows students to complete their programs within double the normal program duration (typically). For a 2-year program, you have 4 years. For a 4-year BS program, you have 8 years maximum. Students who exceed this limit must apply for a special extension through the regional office. It is advisable to complete within the standard timeframe to avoid complications.
Does my AIOU student ID expire between semesters?
No. Your AIOU student roll number and ID remain valid as long as your program is active. Taking a semester break (without rollover admission) does not immediately invalidate your ID, but repeated non-enrollment may require a re-activation request through your regional office.
